GÅS – From The River To The Sea

Emerging from the shadows of Sweden's fertile underground, mysterious outfit GÅS return with ‘From The River To The Sea’, a new 7” single available in a selection of limited-edition variants via Rocket Recordings (UK), Svensk Psych Aften (Denmark) and Brilliant Moon (Sweden).

Drawing inspiration from the adventurous spirit of 1970s Swedish psych, folk and progressive rock, GÅS inhabit a musical world where hypnotic rhythms, fuzz-drenched workouts, wandering melodies and psychedelic explorations take centre stage. Their sound shares a kinship with the boundary-pushing spirit of the era, while nodding to a new generation of Swedish psych explorers such as Hills, Dungen and Goat.

GÅS first stormed into the consciousness of psych heads with their debut 7” ‘Epitaph’ in 2020. Now, following the release of their debut album ‘Vol.1’ in 2023, ‘From The River To The Sea’ marks the band's first new musical offering in three years, signalling the return of one of Sweden's more exciting psychedelic outfits.

A side, ‘Petrodollar (Part 1)’ is a psychedelic call to arms – a fuzz-drenched, flute-fuelled anti-war song that takes aim at the continued atrocities perpetrated by Western governments and corporations.

GÅS said this about the track “Petrodollar is a pro- Palestine, anti endless-wars on behalf of US/Israeli, Epstein-gang in the Middle East.”

As with the band's debut single ‘Epitaph’, this release is accompanied by another wonderful cover version of a song close to GÅS' heart. This time around, the band turn their attention to ‘Winter's Going’, originally recorded by Bonnie Dobson and released on her self-titled 1969 album. GÅS deliver a stunning interpretation, adding their own distinctive touch to this much-loved song.

The Rocket Recordings edition of the ‘From The River To The Sea’’ 7” is strictly limited to just 175 copies. Each copy comes housed in a hand-screenprinted sleeve and includes a hand-numbered insert – both unique to the Rocket variant.

There are four exclusive vinyl variants:

– 50 copies on Green vinyl with a matching Green card sleeve

– 50 copies on Red vinyl with a matching Red card sleeve

– 50 copies on White vinyl with a matching White card sleeve

– 25 copies on Black vinyl with a matching Black card sleeve

All digital sales of the single via Bandcamp will be donated to War Child.
