‘Goat – The Human Language Tape’

On 11 October 2024, Goat released their latest – and some say greatest album, simply titled ‘Goat’. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their monumental release, the band handed over all the original stems to their good friend, the enigmatic producer ‘human language’, and gave him complete freedom to remix the album however he saw fit.

But let’s be clear right from the outset, this is no ordinary remix album – 'human language' was invited to inhabit inside of Goat’s sonic temple. With a copy of J Dilla’s Donuts in one hand he was encouraged to burn new incense into their music – reshaping the 8 tracks from the inside out.

The tape opens with 'One More Shadow', where Goat's original’s fuzzed guitars are filtered through warped vinyl crackle, and the drums land with golden-era hip-hop swagger – chopped, pitched and looped until they sound like a ghost trapped in its own groove.

On 'Goatnoggin', 'human language' transforms 'Goatbrain' into a head-nodding, dubbed-out slow-burner. The funk remains, but it’s now filtered through a murky, weed-soaked Dilla prism.

'The Buck Stops Here' takes Goat into a cough-syrup head zone, a swampy place between meditation and menace, where the ghosts of Funkadelic dwell – never quite relaxing, never quite erupting.

On 'Jörmugandr' the tapes closer, ‘human language’ transforms 'Ouroborus' into a reverb-heavy percussion driven, haunted sermon deep from within the Scandinavian forest – part Madlib, part Midsommar.

What makes ‘The Human Language Tape’ so compelling is that it doesn’t sanitise Goat's rawness – it embraces it. This lo-fi aesthetic feels intentional rather than incidental – resulting in eight Goat tracks refracted through cracked drum pads and whirling incense smoke, where heavy drum loops meet the cosmic energy of Sweden's finest.

The album is released digitally on 10 October. An exclusive ltd edition cassette is also available, where human language has blended all eight tracks into a continuous side-long mix. No track breaks. No distractions. Just hypnotic mantras unfolding in an unbroken loop – one long exhale of sound, memory, and rhythm.
